A Legacy of Valour & Unwavering Loyalty
Since 1815, the Brigade of Gurkhas has served with distinction. Our museum preserves this prestigious history for generations to come.
Message From the Director
It is my absolute privilege to welcome you to the Gurkha Memorial Museum. For over two centuries, Gurkhas have served with legendary courage, unmatched discipline, and unwavering loyalty. This museum stands as a sacred archive of that history—not just of the strategic battles won, but of the deep-rooted cultural values, camaraderie, and sacrifices that define the Brigade of Gurkhas.
Our mission extends beyond displaying uniforms and medals; we strive to bring history to life. Through carefully preserved personal diaries, historic photographs, auditory soundscapes, and courtyards containing memorials, we aim to educate, inspire, and remind future generations of what it truly means to be a Gurkha.
Whether you are a scholar researching regimental history, a veteran reflecting on service, or a visitor discovering our legacy for the first time, we hope your journey through these halls leaves you with a profound appreciation for our heritage. Thank you for your continued support.

Our Mission
"To commemorate and preserve the history and heritage of the Gurkha soldiers in the British and Indian armies, ensuring their sacrifice and loyalty are never forgotten."
The Gurkha Memorial Museum in Pokhara stands as a testament to the bravery of the 'Bravest of the Brave'. We bridge history from 1815 to the modern day, detailing campaigns, regimental life, and the profound impact of these warriors on world history.
Historical Campaigns & Regimental Life
Gurkha soldiers joined the British Army in 1815 and later the Indian Army after its independence in 1947. Our museum concentrates on this expansive timeline, showcasing their evolution from mountain warriors to world-class modern military units.
Across three floors, we bring history to life with immersive soundscapes and colored lighting. From the trenches of the World Wars to recent peacekeeping missions, every artifact tells a story of incredible fortitude.
